While the global discourse often fixates on futuristic air taxis for passengers, in the United Arab Emirates, a more concrete, strategic, and quiet vision for Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) has taken shape: cargo logistics. Leading this revolution is LODD Autonomous, which is proving how rapid execution, combined with bold technical choices, can transform a startup into a potential leader in autonomous air logistics.
The Birth of a Systemic Project
Founded in 2023 in Abu Dhabi by Rashid Al Manai, with the institutional backing of Faisal Al Bannai, LODD is no exercise in improvisation. In just two years, the Hili prototype went from the drawing board to its maiden flight (November 2025 in Al Ain). Integrating hydrogen fuel cells will be the natural evolution to achieve zero emissions, while a radical redesign of the electronic architecture based on criteria of dissimilar redundancy and compliance with global safety protocols (such as DO-178C) will become the true benchmark for the brand.
