LA NUOVA VIA DELLA SETA AEROSPAZIALE: La Cina sfida il monopolio occidentale

From exercises in Qatar to global co‑production agreements: China’s geopolitical and commercial offensive to build a defence ecosystem alternative to the West’s     In mid‑May 2026, Chinese state broadcaster CCTV aired a report destined to draw the attention of international defence analysts. In the segment, later picked up by Asian media and the Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) community, Beijing claimed that the Chengdu J‑10CE fighter had achieved a “9‑0” result against an unspecified “advanced European aircraft”, comprising five close‑range dogfights and four beyond‑visual‑range (BVR) engagements .   Although the Chinese state network did not officially name the countries involved, most OSINT analysts linked the report to the “Zilzal‑II” bilateral exercise held over Qatar in January 2024, between Pakistan Air Force (PAF) J‑10CEs and Qatar Emiri Air Force (QEAF) Eurofighter Typhoons. The Airport: From Grass Field to Gateway to the World

Once upon a time, there was a meadow. A flat field, with no asphalt and no control towers only the courage of men and women who looked to the sky and dreamed of reaching it. That’s how the first airports were born: simple grassy spaces, wooden hangars, a few essential structures. They weren’t places of crowds, but of pioneers.

Over time, that meadow transformed. In the 1930s came paved runways, the first passenger terminals, and control towers watching over the skies. The airport became a symbol of progress, of national pride, of connection between cities and continents.

Then came the era of globalization: intercontinental hubs, radar, computer systems, terminals filled with shops and restaurants. The airport was no longer just a point of departure, but a microcosm where the world met. Today, in the digital age, we speak of smart airports: biometrics, automation, sustainability. And yet, despite the technology, the essence has remained the same.

The Essence That Unites Us

Because the airport is not just a technical place. It is a stage for universal emotions:
- The farewell to family before departure.
- The embrace upon return, after months away.
- The anticipation of a new job, a new adventure.
- The discovery of a different world, beginning the moment you cross the terminal doors.

Every passenger carries a story: someone leaving to start over, someone flying for love, someone returning to reunite with loved ones. In this space suspended between earth and sky, we all see ourselves reflected.

The Airport as a Metaphor for Life

In just over a hundred years, the airport has changed radically. But its deepest function has never shifted: to be a bridge between the everyday and the unknown, between what we leave behind and what we encounter.

Every takeoff is a promise. Every landing is a return.
And we, travelers of yesterday and today, continue to recognize ourselves in this place that never stops evolving, yet always preserves the same magic: the possibility of leaving and of coming back.
